Wow do I have a treat to start off this fine week. En route from Sydney back to Brisbane, Mum and I stopped in at my favourite place on earth – Byron Bay – for a little reflection and quality time in Australia’s most easterly point. Anyone who has visited Byron Bay knows there is something special about the little town. Byron Bay’s role energy wise is actually to create a blueprint for unconditional love. As well as being placed in the most easterly point of Australia it has tremendous effects on our energetic fields releasing blockages in the heart chakra – to allow for openings of more unconditional love. Additionally – it is meant to be an energy portal, sitting at a converging point of powerful ley lines. Almost everyone who resides in Byron is on a path of personal growth: acupuncturists, energy healers, vegans.
As a by product, it is home to some of the best pure whole foods vegan cafes. I had heard about The Conscious Cafe, but every time I had visited Byron it had been closed, or something inhibited me from going. So my visit last week was so exciting I couldn’t contain it! We arrived just in time for lunch and sat amongst the plants, cane sun chairs and bamboo infrastructure and chowed down on some seriously delicious and creative vegan food. It was bliss, it was a little sanctuary of paradise.
The Conscious Café is a 100% certified organic café in the heart of Byron Bay. It is gluten free, dairy free, processed soy free, genetically modified food free, Teflon cookware free, and canola oil free, everything is cooked in organic coconut oil and a whole lotta love goes into the food! Below is what we enjoyed…
Dragonfruit & Blueberry Smoothie – with Frozen Banana & Rice Milk $8.50
Green Smoothie – with daily fresh greens: parsley, mint, coriander, spirulina, banana, coconut water – $10
Pumpkin & Sweet Potato Pie with Gluten Free “Pastry” served with Quinoa Salad & Almond Nut Butter – $14.50
“Moon Eclipse”: Mung Bean & Black Bean Fettuccine with homemade almond basil pesto, olives, sauteed kale, sunflower and wattle seed vegan ‘cheese’ & salad – $14.50
The Conscious Cafe is nestled away on Jonson street, however it is in the southern end of the Woolworths car park. You have to walk through an arcade to get to it directly off Jonson street. If all else fails just ask a local they will point you in the right direction, every local knows about this gem of a cafe! Next time you are in Byron be sure to visit and enjoy your little bit of consciousness through this delicious menu and let me know your favourite dish!
